97 Agents That Accept Fantasy Submissions

This may be helpful to a few writers out there. After I finished VampCon, I spent from August 2011 until April 2012 methodically querying any agencies that would look at fantasy. Alas, it did not work out, so I began contacting smaller and independent presses that do not require you to be represented and- to my great fortune- signed up with Greyhart Press.

Despite it not having worked out with the agents, I managed to compile a pretty decent resource to share with folks, so please feel free to use it! Before sending any queries, however, I strongly recommend checking each agency’s website for their submission guidelines. Some will only take email submissions, others will only take them by post (snail mail). Some want only a query letter, while others want the query letter plus the first twenty pages, while others will ask queries + first chapters + synopsis.

Also, agencies not static. Some may be looking for fantasy books in 2012, but have no interest in 2013.  Some agencies shut down to new submissions from time to time, so please make sure to find out what format and content they want before contacting.

The list is filed below by agency name, although in some cases I have included specific agents who seem to focus on fantasy/ sci-fi.

This has been incredibly helpful Finding an agent is tedious work. Your site just made it a whole lot easier. Even so, unless you’ve put in a lot of time and effort and are rewarding yourself, spending time on the beach isn’t going to get you an agent. Thanks again!

Helpful information. Fortunate me I found your web site by accident, and I’m shocked why this twist of fate didn’t happened in advance! I bookmarked it.
